Dwarf Essex rapeseed is a cool season, brassica equipped well for grazing and cover crop mixes. It has a fibrous root structure, along with a tap-root, which makes it unique compared to other brassicas. Like many other brassicas, it is highly palatable which makes it great for grazing systems. It has good salinity tolerance so we recommend it in those troublesome areas. Dwarf Essex rapeseed is fairly drought tolerant and can reach up to 24" in height at full plant maturity. It grows well into the Fall during freezing temperatures making it a good option for late season grazing systems.
